With the Government advising the UK to avoid gatherings and visiting crowded places such as pubs, you must be wondering how coronavirus (also known as COVID-19) could affect your livelihood – especially if you’re a musician who plays live.

Lots of our policyholders have been asking what they’re covered for, so we’ve put together this FAQ page to address your concerns.

We’ll periodically add to this page as or when more questions come through.

Do Insure4Music cover gig cancellations?

Unfortunately, gig cancellation due to disease control is not an area of cover available under our policies. We do provide cover for loss of earnings, but this is only following an accident whilst performing or playing which stops you from attending your normal occupation.

Am I covered if I’m teaching in schools which are open for children of key workers?

Yes, you are still covered.

Am I covered if I’m teaching students online on a 1-1 basis?

Yes, you are still covered.

Your policy documents

If you have any questions regarding your insurance and what you’re covered for, please log in to your online account, from here you’ll be able to access all your insurance documentation and this will explain the conditions of your policy in more detail.

If you still have any questions, call our UK based Customer Service team on 08000 469 859 between the hours of 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday.

However, please note that we are experiencing higher call volumes than usual at the moment and may take a little longer to respond to your query. If your query is urgent, you can email us at admin@insure4music.co.uk.

Stay safe

Following the announcement on Monday night, it’s safe to say we are all in unchartered territory. And without doubt, musicians are amongst the most affected. We appreciate that this isn’t an easy time for you and we can only hope that if we all follow the government’s advice to stay inside, the pressure on the NHS will ease, and we can all get back to playing gigs again soon.

With money being tight at this time we’re sure that any theft, loss or damage to your equipment would be another unwelcome financial burden. If you already have Equipment cover on your policy then we’re pleased to say that your instrument(s) will be covered inside your home, a studio or in a locked garage* if you’re going to be storing it away during this period.

In addition, if you haven’t covered your equipment, but you will be storing either your own instruments, or your bands gear over this time, then you can quickly and easily add Equipment Cover to your policy by calling us on the number above.

If you’re a music teacher…

You might be wondering if you can continue to hold your music lessons online and we’re pleased to say, yes you can! Please refer to our FAQs for details of how your policy can continue to cover you.
